About

The
Problem

Theater production is a very complicated process that lasts about 2-3 months and consist of an ongoing pain:
1. Managing a big group of people i.e actors, designers, technical and logistic workers.
2. Managing multiple aspects of the produciton such as audtions, scribing the script, managing reharsals,              gathering inspirations etc’.

The outcome of the above issues is a huge pain source for directors who struggle to syncronize all the different

aspects and changes that occur during the production process. In addition, a director usually works on average on 2 different productions simultaniously, which creates a lot of pain and results with the director being overloaded with a lot of information and tasks, where usually the feeling is that there’s always something that was forgotten or left unmanaged.

The
Solution

ShowTime allows the director to control and manage all the different aspects of the production in a single app that is designated for these specific needs, in addition it allows all stakesholders of the production to syncronize and stay updated about anything that is relevant for them during the production process.

The User

A theatre director manages 2 productions simulatniously on average, he has a lot of information to process, a lot of tasks to do and a lot of people to manage, all of that consume his time and make him spend a lot of the time on adminstrative aspects while what he actually wishes to do is spend more time on the creative asepct of his work.

The
Dashboard

The dashboard displays to the director the information that is most critical and relevant for him during the work day; schedule of rehearsals on the current day, roster of actors (present and absent), and the most urgent tasks on the to-do list. At the top of the dashboard you can view more general data on the progress status of the production.

Improvements

This feature is designed to help the director to keep track of the work progress, to make sure that each actor or scene gets enough working time. The app pulls the data from the schedule and displays the actors and the scenes that had received the most and least working time to date, with an action button for quickly adding them to the schedule.

Schedule

Creating a rehearsal schedule is perhaps the most complicated problem in the production process, and requires synchronization of a lot of information: which scenes need more work, which actors participate in each scene, which actors are absent each day. In the top column of the table are the avatars of the absent actors on each day, and below it are the working time units, accompanied by tags describing the nature of the work; whether it is a rehearsal, a meeting, a run or anything else.

Smart Algorithm

When adding a new event to the schedule, this feature filters the data, based on the information in the app, and offers the best options, depending on the absence of actors and the overall working time on each scene to date. Any update or change to the schedule will be automatically sent to all the participating actors or relevant professionals.

Moodboard

The director works with different designers on different aspects (setting, costumes, music, lighting and more) and is required to synchronize between all the artistic elements in order to succeed in creating a show with a uniform and clear artistic language. This is a shared workspace for the director along with all the designers, where you can share inspiration and progress, make comments and respond to each other, and create an artistic discourse between all the design aspects of the show.

Auditions

The casting process is usually done in several stages, and the director is exposed to a large number of candidates. It is necessary to centralize and weight all the information. This feature displays the list of roles in the show and allows the director to update the actor's card, to select an actor for each role in the show, to add them on a waiting list, or to finalize their exam process.

Archive & Pool of Actors

The casting process is not based on abilities alone, so there can be great actors who will not be casted in the show, but may be suitable for other shows in the future. All the actors’ cards are saved in the database, and contain the information about the actor and the weighting of his scores from the auditions, so it is always possible to go back to them for other productions, or in extreme cases where a change in cast is required.
